Lijun Ding

Hi, I am Lijun, an assistant professor in the Wm Michael Barnes ‘64 Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISEN) at Texas A&M University.  I was a post-doctoral scholar at the Institute of Foundations of Data Science (IFDS) at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Washington, supervised by Stephen J. Wright, Dmitry Drusvyatskiy, and Maryam Fazel. Before joining IFDS, I obtained my Ph.D. in Operations Research at Cornell University, advised by Yudong Chen and Madeleine Udell.  I graduated with an M.S. in Statistics from the University of Chicago, advised by Lek-Heng Lim. I received a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

My research lies at the intersection of optimization, statistics, and machine learning. My work focuses on solving fundamental challenges and application-motivated problems in Data Science, where I develop optimization techniques that allow computational scalability and statistical techniques that provide a better model of the structured data
